What we Value Really Matters
LISTENING: Paying attention to another’s Real priorities.
Example: Think about a time when someone said they were fine, but everything about them told you that they were not fine? You don’t just walk away from them, you ask more questions because you know it’s important. We really want to know what you’re actually prioritizing.
PLAIN TALK: Telling the whole truth to bring clarity and direction.
Example: Sometimes we have to say stuff that’s embarrassing. It’s better not to sugar-coat it, just get it out on the table, and then let’s go about finding resolution. With us, you can say whatever needs to be said. Better out than in.
NEW WAYS: Enjoying problems. Inventing solutions.
Example: You need a piece of hundred year-old wood that is no longer in production (clearly!). We find an old barn in Saco that has some spares in the attic and ask to buy a few planks to complete the work. That was pretty satisfying, and a very true story!
DURA-BEAUTY: Straight lines and square corners that reflect our company’s integrity for years to come.
Example: A finish carpenter dings a piece of trim. On an Optimum project, he gets a new strip and starts over. He knows that if he comes back to this house for a cookout in a year it’ll bother him to see it, even if no one else does. He makes it right no matter what.
SHARED SUCCESS: Everyone’s life benefits from our work together.
Example: At the end of a project, we can have everyone together for beers, from the homeowner and homebuilder to the plumbing subcontractor and demolition guy. Everyone has nothing to hide, everyone is smiling, everyone’s paid, everyone has received value. That’s a win in our book, and very doable.
